Projects

To support student growth and learning, I organized curricula for various life skills classes by identifying essential goals for each subject, followed by the skills students will learn, and the outcomes for each student upon the class’ conclusion. From there, I used data to inform my instruction and build engaging content to support learning.

Student-run
Candle-making Business

In order to empower students and develop an initiative that aligns with curricular goals, I piloted a student-run candle-making business. Students made and sold candles to the school community while building their own leadership skills. Additionally, I worked with other educators and trained them on how to pilot similar programs in their own schools. This program was featured in Forbes.

Adult Education & Programming

I developed a speaker series for families to continue their own education on services in order to best prepare them for their transition to adulthood. I sourced experts to speak on important topics related to special education and invited families to participate to continue their own learning. More information on these family education events can be found here.

Presentations for Families & Professionals

In order to promote the growth and awareness of the program, I created presentations on Google Slides and held monthly open houses, both virtually and in-person. Find the deck here.

Program Schedule &
Course Overviews

In order to best support student growth and cross-curricular learning, I designed a schedule that addresses transition-related learning goals for each student across multiple domains. I developed these courses to build student growth and independence, and a description of course overviews can be found here.

Partnerships

I initiated and cultivated meaningful partnerships in order to enhance programming for students. These partnerships provided students with experiences that supported the curriculum and led to real-world, hands-on practice of skills. These partnerships included:

  • The College of Mount Saint Vincent

  • Empowered Sports & Fitness

  • New York Public Library

  • Luv, Michael

  • Job Path

  • Project Rousseau

  • Grant & Eisenhoffer Law
